Daniel’s parents were active conservationists who met, married, and had a son while still at college. As devoted eco-warriors with a strong love of life, they traveled around the world taking young Daniel with them to protest everything from deforestation and whale hunting to corruption and injustice. An accident when he was twelve cost him his parents and left him in the care of a relative. Daniel retreated from people and found happiness in the woods and mountains. A Surprising discovery during a cliff climb opened up a universe of possibilities to him. With that discovery, the question he now faced was what should an environmentally conscious loner do when he stumbles upon the most dangerous intelligent tool in the universe?

Now, years later, he and his group were working hard to save what they could of Earth's life treasures. The new planet, Tawny, had slowly come alive, piece by piece. The oceans lived, and the continents had developed a patchwork of green filled with life. But they had ignored something in their rush to save the endangered species of Earth.
