Resumen del Editor

When Clay Wolfe is hired to find out who tried to steal a mouse, he thought it was akin to a fireman getting a cat out of a tree. It wasn’t.

“Sometimes bad genes need to be stamped out and good ones need to be fostered,” Bridget Engel said. “There’s really no difference between mice and human beings when it comes to genes.” She wore a gray suit, and her blonde hair was cut short in the style that Hillary Clinton had made popular.

When Clay Wolfe rekindles an old romance, the summer is looking bright. It wasn’t.

He woke in the middle of the night, gathered his things, and slipped away. After Clay left, Victoria rose from the bed and went into the bathroom, carefully removed the condom from the Kleenex it was wrapped in and put it in a plastic baggie.

Who is the mysterious man who clubs Westy with a hammer and threatens the lives of everybody Clay Wolfe holds dear?

Now, Clive Miller was a fixer. He took care of problems that arose. Once given a task, his hands weren’t tied, and he was well-paid for his troubles. There were two simple rules. Eliminate the problem. Don’t draw attention.

Once you start you won't put it down

Clay Wolfe and his crew of misfits have done many things but being asked to find a missing mouse … well, that’s one for the books! Not only does Clay have to tangle with thieves stealing these special genetically enhanced mice hoping to create super babies/humans but also a former female friend in search of a baby daddy!

The author, Matt Cost, continues to entertain his listeners with unique storylines, strong characters, and clever plot twists. While Clay Wolfe and his crew have been built during each book, the characters alone are solid enough and do not need constant tending as their depth and personalities are built through dialogue and action. It is clear within minutes who the main characters on the Wolfe team are and their relationships. This leaves the listeners time to delve deeply into the story and enjoy the plot twists and other characters without losing sight of the main characters. Cost is a gifted and first-rate storyteller and is most definitely a rising author to keep an eye on.

The narrator, Jason Arnold once again mesmerizes listeners with his intense, clear, and penetrating voice. He keeps the story moving forward at a good clip and helps the listeners keep the characters straight. His delivery is distinct and deliberate, enhancing the intensity of the action.

This is one of those rare series and books that will have the listener on the edge of their chair while chuckling about the initial mouse conversation!

Riveting!

Matt Cost tells a thrilling story in Mouse Trap. I did read the print version of the story, and enjoyed it, but I also really enjoyed this audiobook. Clay is definitely in deep in this story. I am a fan of this homicide detective turned PI. Clay's new case is to find out who stole a mouse. Yes, a mouse. But that's just the beginning. It's a thrilling story, and I like that the author brought in interesting angst in Clay's private life. Clay knows that things aren't always what they seem, but sometimes, you can be blind when it's personal. Whatever this author writes or puts on audio, I want to read. Both thrilling and intriguing, all the way to the end. The author's technique of raw, magnetic characters and great plotlines is a gift. It's a great story to follow and try to figure out what will happen next. Sometimes you have to put the book down, just to take a breath. Clay is a raw, headstrong character, who is very intelligent, and knows that to look for, things that other's may miss. The narration added to the story, and was well narrated, almost giving a new perspective of the story. Mouse Trap on audiobook is a definite listening recommendation by Amy's Bookshelf Reviews. I look forward to listening to many more titles by this author. Amy's Bookshelf Reviews recommends that anyone who listens to this book, to also write a review.
