Protecting the Forest

Thirteen-year-old Montana MacCarthy feels a deep responsibility for every creature in Glen Helen Forest, especially the rare American Bald eagles nesting on Talus Trail. So, when the Glen director invites her and her friends from the Wesley Club to create a kid-friendly pamphlet about the forest’s wildlife for a summer project, they eagerly accept.

Montana leads the group as they explore the forest, capturing sketches and photographs of its diverse inhabitants—bobcats, foxes, skunks, bats, and of course, the majestic eagles. But their project takes an unexpected turn when they stumble upon a group of poachers targeting the forest’s protected animals.
