Resumen del Editor

From Margaret Moseley, the Edgar Award-nominated author of the best-selling Bonita Faye, comes a wickedly funny, delightfully unusual mystery novel featuring a very unlikely detective.

Millicent Le Sueur is an eccentric, obsessive-compulsive bag lady in a rural Southern town who witnesses the hit-and-run killing of a teenage girl. Or so she claims. Some townsfolk believe she killed the girl and made up the story to cover her crime.

Battling her neuroses and psychoses, and counting her steps along the way, she tracks a killer she hopes won't count her as the next victim.

I'm lost for words...

Normally I start with the story but I'm still figuring out what I want to say so... the narration was excellent, the character voices were first class and the delivery as a whole was perfect for the story.

Speaking of the story... it's not often that you read a book where the main character is experiencing mental illness, possibly because authors worry that they won't be able to accurately show the thoughts of these people. In this story Milicent has a very distinctive way of thinking and it's very interesting to get a glimpse at the world through her eyes.

This is a book that will make you feel. I'm a crier and I didn't cry but I did become attached to Milicent quite quickly and wanted things to go well for her.

There's a fair bit going on and some of it is very unexpected. A great way to spend an afternoon/evening.

I received a free copy of this book from the author and/or narrator and/or publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Milicent Le Sueur

From the beginning, I loved the quirkiness of Milicent Le Sueur. Her eccentricities and unique style pulled me right in. There were actually a few times I was caught off guard and actually laughed out loud while listening.

Jam Ross did an exceptional job with the narration!

Whoop Dee Doo! This was a great listen!

Milicent Le Sueur was a bag lady extraordinaire. I liked this character from the very first words spoken.

This story was unapologetic about the plight of its protagonist. Milicent was a bag lady, not homeless (a distinction with a difference!) She very definitely had OCD but the story was more "Rocky" than "Psycho."

The narration was some of the best I've heard all year. Milicent is written as a sympathetic character and Jan Ross' narration was exceptional. Being inside an atypical bag lady's head could have been unsettling but Ross was on point in every way. Milicent's neurosis and thought processes and mania were in the hands of a pro. I loved, loved, loved how Ross handled Milicent's clarity when medicated and the subtle slide back into her OCD world when she was not. Brilliant!

This was a really great listen from start to finish. Whoop Dee Doo!

Plan To Be Enchanted!

I cannot begin to tell you how much I thoroughly enjoyed this piquant telling of the tale of Milicent Le Sueur. Perfectly and perkily narrated by Jan Ross [AUDIO], this cheerfully bizarre tale of a woman who mentally erases her former identity to become a bag lady very subtly casts a spotlight on the plight of homelessness and the wide variety of people whose lives are not standard nine-to-five suburban fantasies. Meanwhile, our charming heroine, when approached correctly, displays amazing powers of observation and proves infinitely resourceful in solving several murders. Plan to be enchanted!

Interesting

Not your typical main character but a great listen overall. Great narrator who brought the characters to life with all their quirks. I received a free review copy of this audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.

Wonderful WOW!!!

If you know how I review you will see I don't give a lot of 5 stars. My 4 star review means to me that I really liked the book but a 5 star means "WOW" run out and tell everyone about this book. That is how I felt after 5 minutes into this audio book. My opinion never changed all the way to the end and I so didn't want this book to end. Milicent Le Sueur is a very original cozy mystery. A bag lady that you fall in love with right away. Margaret Moseley does a wonderful job of writing this unique character and Jan Ross is the just the right person to narrate the book. A BIG win win for me. I was gifted this book (and am so grateful) with the understanding I would leave an honest review.

Quirky Mystery 3 1/2 Stars

This is the second book by Margaret Moseley that I have listened to. I would rate it at 3 1/2 stars. The story is original in the concept of a homeless woman solving a crime. Part of the book I really enjoyed, while other parts not so much. I didn't like the flippant way Milicent was offering others her medication. I felt the homeless people were being portrayed as needing psychological help. The characters were quirky and had unusual names. I liked the characters of Gypsy, Wade Tate, and Milie. I found it confusing when Milie would refer to Wade Tate as Tate Wade and vice versa. Milicent came across as bi-polar and OCD. Regarding the narrator (Jan Ross), I just didn't connect with her voice expressions and delivery for this book. Some of the voices the narrator performed were very well done, while others were grating. I had requested this audiobook and have voluntarily written this review.

Milicent is wonderful!

I enjoyed this book very much. Milicent is a very likable character who made me laugh. She has her issues but she is smart, funny and so very interesting. I really got into this book and had a hard time shutting it down for the night. This was one I wanted to listen to all at once but wasn't able to. The narration was also very good! I would recommend this to anyone who is considering it. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.
