Vitally Important

This was a hard book to listen to only for its brutal honesty and revealing nature of the vial things being bounced around on line and manifesting in our day-to-day lives. A must-read for awareness and shifting the conversation forward.

Good look at the background issues

This book does a good job of looking into the issues that men can be swept up into. As a man who grew up gaming and on the internet a lot of this wasn’t a surprise this affects men & women on the internet daily. I think the author does mean to pull people away from the manosphere and other areas, but I still always got the feeling she was bashing men at times. Not intentionally though just because that bad side is so bad. I want to see us pull away from these stupid women hating ways on the internet, but this book is more for people on our side and not people who are on the border to falling in IMO. Worth a read definitely

Bracing, necessary, troubling - men need to hear this

I thought I knew a lot of this stuff. I’ve read about incels and mass shootings and know a fair amount about the men’s rights movement and alt right bad actors inciting vulnerable, fragile men to commit violence. But there was a lot I didn’t know and it was really troubling. There are quite a few things that will stick with me to the extent that I’m reluctant to recommend this book to other women. I’m more afraid of men and look at them differently now than I did before I listened to this book and I’m sad about that. But maybe I need my eyes opened. Maybe we all do? One thing I know for sure — good men definitely do. I don’t think (and I’m fact, kinda hope not) that most men really know how bad misogyny has become and I think it’s their responsibility to have our (women’s) backs but also a responsibility to our/their sons, each other and themselves. I wish more men - of all races - would read this book.

The only complaint I have is about the voice of the narrator. I legit thought it was AI, that’s how robotic it sounds. Wish it’d been read by the writer or at least someone else who felt a connection to the material.

Very important book

This book needs to be read. The author has done exhaustive research on the subject matter and has opened my eyes to things I never knew.

Eye Opening!

I learned a lot and now, I’m more afraid than I was about the fate of women and men in this society. But I am thankful to have the information needed to make change.

Eye-opening book that exposes the history of how the incel movement has evolved

Important information for men and women to understand how insidious propaganda can be. Women are not safe in a society where men are being conditioned to believe anti-women rhetoric especially at such a young age.

horrifying and eye-opening

I was not aware of the extent of these groups. analysis was good. But I almost stopped listening a few times due to the voice of the narrator. She sounded sing-songy and u serious, and at times mocking. I just felt like the voice was such a mismatch for this important topic. Also, things did start to get repetitive. I still feel like it's an important read, but if I were to suggest this book to someone else I would suggest they read the in print version

Can men ever take accountability?

Reading this book is difficult as a husband, father, and teacher. Much what I have been conditioned to believe is so deeply rooted in misogyny that each page challenged the beliefs of what it means to be a man. Recent events, Trump’s reelection, Musk’s takeover of twitter, and Zuckerberg backsliding from policies that would stop manosphere platforms shows the vitriolic response that men have towards women. This is an incredibly important read.

Deep dive into macro and micro sexism that effects both women and men

Aside from being educational this book is like listening to a soap opera. It does not shy away from the hard truths and lies perpetuated by social conservatives.The language this books uses to describe the pipeline of fearful boys to incels is brilliant. It explains social behavior within its context and relates it to sexism without placing inherit blame. The author makes it clear that sexism is a product of the patriarchy, not all men. This book also suggests solutions and provides examples and scientific studies. My favorite quote was (also the title and likely the conclusion), “men hate men, who hate women, who hate women” Excellent read!!
