Resumen del Editor

Born and raised in Portland, Oregon, a city with a one percent African American population, Rain initiates into the magical world of the Elementals. This spurs her to journey overseas in order to bridge for herself the correlation between science and shamanism and to deepen her understanding in the practices of her African ancestors.

In 2011 she finds herself in Newark, New Jersey, where she initiates into the African Traditional Religions (ATRs). But soon, Rain starts to realize the people running the coven held a detrimental secret, engaging in something much darker and sinister than anyone could ever dare to imagine.

When the Elementals come to Rain for help over the impending danger, they begin showing her just how deep this rabbit hole really went. She becomes a threat to the Madrina, the cult’s high priestess, her husband, the Babalawo, Diviner of Destiny, and the Oriate, Magus of Ceremonies. All three will say and do anything within their combined power to ensure she stays silent forever.

Follow Rain in this powerfully thrilling and engaging memoir as she recounts these true life events, from coming into the priesthood and escaping the grasp of these corrupt warlocks and witches to discovering many of the ancient and long-forgotten practices of her ancestors along the way. For more than 11 continuously long years Rain thwarts the religious order's attacks. Now she provides you with practical tools for protection, from those who have your hair, blood, skin, nails...and Orisha's.

Amazingly prophetic

Wow… you must listen to the every end… it is uncanny how she’s able to strategically bridge generations of lost information for so many cultures.

Memorable book

This will be a memorable book for me,. I understand wanting to know your true religion, especially for black people. We are taught and mostly raised as chrisitians, not understanding why we are doing it. Now there is a big falling away from the chrisitian faith and those persons are searching for their true spiritual idenity and come across cults or groups that lead them into darkness..Some people never get out safe and sound. This is why reading and researching the subject before you make a commitment is important. The part where the "father' expected her to bow down at his feet, would have been enough for me to leave. Because at that point you are worhiping a man. This also may explain why so many black families have superstitions, because they are aware of what people can do with any part of you they may have (hair, nail clippings and anything with your blood on it) can be used to hurt you by those who practice these spititual religions.
