Resumen del Editor

The Los Angeles Times Festival of Books began in 1996 with a simple goal: to bring together the people who create books with the people who love to read them. The festival was an immediate success and has become the largest and most prestigious book festival in the country, attracting more than 130,000 book lovers each year.

Erin Aubrey Kaplan has been a journalist for the Los Angeles Times since 1992. A widely anthologized author, Kaplan's articles have appeared in several publications. Kaplan's first book, an essay collection, is titled "Views and Blues from the Edge: Dispatches from a Black Journalista."

Graduate of Columbia University and Princeton, Jennifer Baszile was the first black female professor to join Yale's history department. Ebony Magazine named her one of the Thirty Leaders of the Future. Her memoir is "The Black Girl Next Door."

Lise Funderburg's latest book is the narrative nonfiction: "Pig Candy: Taking My Father South, Taking My Father Home." Funderburg is a regular contributor to O, The Oprah Magazine, and her essays, articles and reviews have appeared widely in many publications.

Danzy Senna's first novel, "Caucasia," was the winner of a Los Angeles Times Best Book of the Year (1998). Her short fiction and essays have been widely anthologized. Senna's latest book is "Where Did You Sleep Last Night?"
