The Heart is a Fearless Creature

Joe Arden and Erin Mallon did a fantastic job narrating this sexy and heartfelt best friend's little sister romance. Though this is book 2 in the series, I had no problem enjoying Becker and Megan's story (even though I have not read/listened to book 1).

The chemistry between fire captain/bar owner Becker and photographer/artist Megan was scorching hot! Becker and Megan both have some heavy baggage that has been influencing their choices and holding them back emotionally, but in each other they find understanding and comfort. They meet a bit unconventionally and things start off hot and heavy right from the start. Even though it's mutual attraction and lust that bring them together initially, it's their honesty and vulnerability that turn things into so much more. The push and pull between them as they try to deny their feelings was fantastic and I loved seeing all their walls come crashing down. I also appreciated that the angst and drama weren't over the top and that both Megan and Becker are all in once things get going. I felt their fears and concerns were realistic and understandable given their histories. Yes, some mistakes are made along the way, but overall, they communicated openly and honestly with each other and there was no mincing words.

Joe Arden and Erin Mallon made this a really enjoyable listen and I felt Joe Arden especially was amazing as Becker, striking the perfect balance of sweet and gentle as well as commanding and sexy. I think I'm so used to hearing Erin Mallon in more comedic roles, it took me a bit to really feel her as Megan. She was just the right amount of quirky, but sometimes during the more serious moments I had a hard time connecting. The performances were still superb, however, and you really can't go wrong with these narrators. Fans of Lauren Blakely are sure to enjoy this one!

Cute and Thankfully short

I forgot why I never listen to Erin Mallon, but ya I was quickly reminded how horribly breathy she is and how she drags words out. Ugh she honestly does a better male voice than female. Yup last one my bad.

didn't enjoy the narrators voices just didn't lend themselves to the enjoyment of the story. have listened to other books in the series with better performances.

Female narration ruined the story

I read a lot of reviews complaining about the debacle marathon but still took a chance. I liked the storyline but gave to agree the female narration made this painful to listen and enjoy. Several times I almost gave up. I’m guessing that’s why I tuned out often as I listened. Making a note not to waste time on this narrator

Hot story but narrators were no good

Loved the story but the narrators were terrible! Wish the other books in the series were on here, that's one reason I'm not liking Audible. I have found many books that is in a series but the rest are not on here at all! Second reason not liking Audible is because they will have one or two books of a series in plus catalog but the rest have to be bought. They really need way more romance and paranormal options in the plus catalog. Not sure how long I will keep Audible for these reasons unfortunately...

Great story line

The female voice drug out her words continually throughout the story that made it difficult to keep listening but the story itself is good
