Fascinating read

I love this book. It covers the author's personal experience, the landscape and progress of the so-called psychedelic renaissances and approaches honestly the magical trans-personal realms and nature of healing, visions, songs and the practitioners. I would have liked even more stories about it.

Though very informative and educational, listening to this book was more like listening to a wise friend sharing a personal story. I appreciate how Dr. Tafur shares his mystical personal experiences while also providing practical ways to learn from and integrate these experiences into modern healthcare, and more interestingly (for me) into daily life.

"Medicine Song" is an excellent source of information for anyone who wishes to know more about healing through traditional plant medicine. Dr. Joe Tafur is a knowledgeable and important voice on this topic as he is trained both in western medicine and traditional Shipibo curanderismo. Western society has become more interested in plant medicine and as such the sources of commentary have become more numerous. One needs to be judicious as to the sources of their inquiry into this topic. We are in a learning phase as a society. Dr. Tafur has trained extensively with the Shipibo of the Amazon. The Shipibo have an unbroken lineage of healing with ayahuasca and plant medicines that stretches back into antiquity. Dr. Tafur's latest book is well written and read, and is a reliable and grounded source of information on plant medicine healing.
