Recording could be better

What did you like best about Medea? What did you like least?

I liked the story itself and having different voices perform each character. The worst part of this was the music is loud and over powers the speech sometimes, which makes listening difficult, the last 10 mins started giving me a headache. Also the voices sometimes dropped too low. Overall not bad, but could have been much better for what it is, a voice recording created specifically so one does not have to read the book. Also a narrator would have been nice explaining the movement of characters, etc, since this is a play but was not watching it.

Overall Excellent Version

The audio is distorted in some parts, especially for the chorus. However, the general sense of the lines is still intelligible. Anderson gives an incredible performance. This is a really great listen.

Hard to hear

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

yes it was because I had to read it for class and it helped me get it done quickly in one sitting.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Medea because she is interesting and raises a lot of questions about monstrosity and passion.

Would you be willing to try another one of Judith Anderson and Anthony Quayle ’s performances?

I don't think so. The volume of their voices changed way too often. Some points I couldn't even hear the chorus and then the next person would talk and it would be very loud. I had to adjust the volume often. also the music was unnecessary and also added hearing difficulty.

Did Medea inspire you to do anything?

it inspired my statements of discussion for my class

Any additional comments?

I wish the stage directions would have been read as well. The narrators did a good job of changing their voices for the different people.

Great performance but hard to hear at parts

Title says it all, its still worth it if you can get a really quiet room.

Quiet Chorus

I loved this story, and had never read it before! The performers were wonderful, but I couldn't here them all. :( For dramatic purposes, I'm assuming, there was often music while the chorus was speaking making it very difficult to here their vital input.

Medea: A Tragic Exploration of Revenge, Betrayal, and Love

Medea, a tragic play by Euripides, delves into the themes of revenge, betrayal, and the limits of love. Set in Corinth, it centers around Medea, a former princess and powerful sorceress, who seeks revenge on her husband Jason for leaving her to marry Glauce. Medea's anger leads her to send a poisoned wedding dress and diadem to Glauce, causing her death. She then extends her rage to her own children, believing their murder will bring Jason immense pain. Medea's actions challenge societal norms, highlighting the destructive power of revenge. Ultimately, her choices lead to isolation and exile, serving as a cautionary tale about unchecked anger and the darker side of human nature.

Bad quality with over acting

A classic play that was over powered by sharp, loud music and bad acting. Medea sounded as though she were 70 years old and the chorus was barely audible. It was unfortunately the only English version that wasn't part of a collection. Over all, other than the story, it's not worth spending credits or money.

Great acting, terrible recording quality.

Could have been phenomenal. Still well worth listening to. Some parts had pretty muddy audio.
