Yip! Yip! Yoo-ray! Toby’s back for a new adventure!

It’s not everyday that a dog launches his own criminal investigation. But Toby’s not an everyday kind of dog.

When he’s alerted to a local case of puppynapping, Toby tries to get his humans to take action. Unfortunately, the local police aren’t overly concerned about one missing pooch, and Clarissa, Toby’s witch owner, is rather preoccupied with her new job and an ex-boyfriend.

When one missing puppy becomes two … and then three and four … Toby recognises the need for urgent action.

What could a crotchety old wizard possibly want with so many puppies? Nothing good, that’s for certain.

Fortunately Toby, who can turn a paw to most things, has a trick or two up his hairy sleeves. With the help of a few friends—old and new—he hares off on a new escapade without properly considering the consequences.

Can Toby rescue the puppies? Or will he and his friends find themselves in deep doggy doo-doo?

Par for the course when you’re a spellbound hound!

My heart broke (written in the POV of dogs who’ve experienced homelessness and shelter stays, etc.), it was healed, I laughed, I virtually went on adventures, and I escaped into a sweet, magical small town … this book (and all of the series thus far) packs it all.

Clearly written by a dog-lover, so far all of the books in this series manage to post tug at my heartstrings, intrigue me, make me laugh, and so much more. Before I know it, I’ve finished another.

Absolutely devouring this series.

4.5 stars.

🎧 Audio:
Very good audio production, professional, flawless sound quality. I was in love with the narrator for books 1-3, so this one did take some getting used to. He was excellent, just … different. 4 stars.

Another Toby-filled hit!

Master of Puppies: A Paranormal Animal Cozy Mystery is book #4 in the Spellbound Hound Magic and Mystery series by Jeannie Wycherley. Audiobook narrated by David Winter.

I love Toby! This book is very much focused on Toby with a lot less human interaction than in the first three. There’s a problem with puppies disappearing, and Toby has to help find them. His magical abilities are growing stronger and he is able to use those with the help of his cat and dog friends to investigate. I listened to the first 3 books back to back and then moved right on to book 4. The change in narrator took a second to get used to, but David Winter did a great job narrating all the different characters.

I received a free copy of this audiobook via BookSirens and am voluntarily leaving my honest review.

I love Toby. The first three books in this series are interconnected. This one is a new standalone story in this series. This book also has a new narrator, David Winter. David does a great job of narrating this book and giving Toby his voice.

I love Toby being the main character in this book. Not that I don't love Carissa as well but to see Toby on his own was entertaining. He was able to use his detective skills more as well as his new "special" abilities as well.

All of the other dogs are fun. They make a fun group as they band together to solve the mystery of the missing puppies. Such a fun story. The dogs are in charge.

This book (Spellbound Hound book 4) features Toby and some of the neighborhood dogs (and even a few cats). They are investigating around town into the disappearance of several puppies, while simultaneously trying to avoid the dog warden. The narration is outstanding!

I enjoyed this book a lot. Although the whole series has been written through Toby's point-of-view, I thought this story featured Toby even more than the beginning books as there was less human action than in the previous stories. I liked all the dog and cat characters which populated this story, and I was entertained by the interactions between the two species. I was amused by this tale. I thought David Winter's narration was amazing, and his performance added to my enjoyment of the audiobook. I was given a copy of the audiobook. I volunteered, without financial gain, to post this review which reflected my honest opinions regarding this audiobook.

Toby has been promoted to Private Eye to work the Case of the Missing Puppies without Clarissa. (His hooman is too busy!) He enlists his fellow feline and canine friends to help him break the case. This series is so much fun and I really enjoy the way these animals talk to each other and think. Of course, in the back of their minds, there is always the Pointy Woman!
The terrific narration by David Winter made this story more emotional and believable. Each character has a unique personality and attitude as he brought them to life.

A real delight!

DELIGHTFULLY ENTERTAINING, I mean who doesn't love one talking dog let alone every single dog in the town!
If you own a dog, or you don't , you will be educated by Toby and his friends about dog behavior and psychology, which in turn will surely strengthen your relationship with your best pal, or the dog next door who pinches your shoes.
In this story we find Toby unsettled by his Humans lack of attention as she undergoes the issue of earning money for his "Samiches" but as luck will have it he is needed for an urgent Dogitarian (as in not Humanitarian ) rescue project and he needs help!
If you love dogs, have a dog or the neighbor has a dog, you need to read/listen to this book, and as a bonus his human is a Witch!
Well written by Jeanie Wycherley and beautifully narrated by David Winter.
CLEAN FUN STORY RECOMMENDED

Toby becomes aware that there are puppies who are mysteriously disappearing. Being the super smart sleuth that he is, he investigates with the help of his canine friends. It would have been easier to investigate if Clarissa hadn't been distracted by an annoying ex who crashed at her house and tried to push Toby out. The entire story is told from Toby's point of view and was perfect for the long plane ride I was taking. The narrator did a great job depicting the characters. Another enjoyable story in the series that can be read (or listened to) as a standalone.
