I purchased Marvelous Maxx and the Dizzy Girl for my 7-year-old son, and he absolutely loves it. The story is exciting, funny, and meaningful, taking place during a hot Field Day when Maxx notices that Parker is dizzy and overheated. With quick thinking and teamwork, Maxx helps cool her down using ice water, towels, and hydration—teaching kids an important lesson about heat exhaustion and caring for friends.
The narration by Steven is superb. His expressive and energetic performance brings the characters to life and keeps young listeners completely engaged. The pacing and tone are perfect for children, making the adventure feel exciting while still easy to follow.
One thing we especially love about the Marvelous Maxx books is how vocabulary is woven naturally into the story. For example, Maxx explains words like “envious” (“wishing you could do what someone else can do”) and fun expressions like “when pigs fly,” meaning something probably won’t happen.
Kids learn new words without even realizing it because they’re part of the action.
We were also delighted to discover that this is part of a larger Marvelous Maxx series, so we’re now happily working our way through the other books. Another great bonus is that the audiobook includes a PDF version of the book, which makes it easy for kids to follow along while listening—great value for families.
The story ends with a wonderful message: sometimes helping a friend is the biggest win of all. As Maxx reflects, “I didn’t win a medal today. But I helped a friend.”
Overall, this is a fantastic audiobook—fun, educational, and beautifully performed. Highly recommended for families with young children. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
