Acerca de esta escucha

Mars Attacks! screenwriter Jonathan Gems has finally been released by the Martian commander to share his memories and the inner secrets of the movie. These confidential documents have been leaked directly from Area 51, and it’s all here! Studio politics, Hollywood stars, fun, laughter, friendship, mayhem, and the genius of the extraterrestrial Tim Burton. Ack! Ack! Ack!

Great Insight into the Film Industry!

Can really only recommend this to obsessive fans of Tim Burton, Lisa Marie and/or Mars Attacks. This book is actually a series of interviews with screenwriter Jonathan Gems conducted by Mila Pop, which were edited, abridged, and reenacted in a recording studio by Jonathan Gems and Mila Pop. It’s different, that’s for sure.

There’s some great information about the development of Mars Attacks, Tim Burton’s creative process, and his relationship with model/actress Lisa Marie. Not to mention how Gems believes that international bankers so disliked the subversive themes of Mars Attacks that they ordered studio heads to consider it a dud before it was even released and then forced all the movie critics to negatively review it without saying why it was bad. Gems also reminds people to think for themselves before the final interview segues into pro libertarian, anti liberal-media, conspiracy theorist propaganda -ahem - I mean, “exercise in free speech.”

Hang on - I can think for myself, I do remember the reviews for Mars Attacks, and they did say what the reviewers didn’t like about the movie: lack of story, bad pacing, terrible CGI, corny dialogue, sloppy third act, and an indifferent ending. And don’t get me wrong, I love Mars Attacks. But to be so mystified as to why the film based on your screenplay was negatively reviewed that you have to blame the Illuminati and “international bankers”….

You find out about the night Tim Burton met Lisa Marie, how she taught her chihuahua Poppy to say “I love you” and…

Yes, you read that correctly - he blames the “international bankers” for tanking Mars Attacks (domestically, but not overseas) as well as for what he perceives to be an Orwellian assault on free speech.

Uhh….

Sure I like Mars Attacks but….

Not sure who thought it was a good idea to have Pop read her own interview questions and laugh responses. “Hahahahha that’s great” she says over and over again throughout an interview that goes into some weird deep state conversations. Gems like every other Hollywood writer lacks any sort of humility. I love Mars Attacks but the final product is not as good as the talent that’s involved. It’s very easy to see why it would bomb

Awful Audio Book
