great book

I love the story, poor Fanny always being abused by her aunt. I really enjoyed the story

Would you listen to Mansfield Park again? Why?

It's likely I would listen to this again. I enjoyed it more this time, both reading on my Fire and listening at the same time, than I have previously.

What other book might you compare Mansfield Park to and why?

Mansfield Park is a typical Austin satire on manners and morals of British society and can be compared pretty much to any of her others. Those who like Austin might find themselves liking Thackeray's *Vanity Fair*, too. I consider him a superior author to Austin.

What does Wanda McCaddon bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Her voice has character, but character that matches the story and doesn't distract from it. Her characterizations are (generally) well done, and sometimes very well done.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

My last reading of Mansfield Park didn't impress me much, so I was surprised to find that this time I did want to keep going until it was done. I got much more out of it, perhaps because of my own level of maturity increasing, as well as Wanda McCaddon's narration.

Satisfying in the end.

Her accent lent an air of sophistication and authenticity to the reading.

Wonderful performance, good book...

This was just a stellar reading of Mansfield Park. The only downside is the conviction that Fanny, as the only truly upright person in the book, having a continued love for Edmund is hard to comprehend. Lovely descriptions of people and landscapes. Beautiful.

Delightfully Austen!

I could not help but love dear Miss Fanny Price and all the characters attached to Mansfield Park.

"Not Exactly My Cup of Tea."

Too wordy for my tastes. The short, sweet, and simple of this book is that big family has too many children to care for. They send their 10 year old daughter to live with their more prosperous relatives. Girl grows up. She marries her first cousin (eew!). Everybody accepts it. Everybody is happy.

It took 47 chapters ¥too long) to say what could be said in six sentences.

Typical Austen. Which means awesome, of course

Mrs McCaddons voice is too elevated, which makes her an excellent story teller but was a little distracting as a narrator. Maybe that's just me. Great book!

Not a fan

I don’t know if it didn’t grab me because it’s outdated thinking of marrying women off. But I wasn’t as moved by the luvly Jane Austen as I would have hoped to be!

What made the experience of listening to Mansfield Park the most enjoyable?

I liked the variation of the characters and their interaction with eachother,

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Wanda McCaddon?

I have several of Jane Austen's books on tape and I would prefer hearing Kate Redding

Any additional comments?

I enjoyed the book, but the narration was hard to hear. I often listen while driving and some of the narrator's character voices were softer than others and I missed the dialogue. I would not listen to another book narrated by Wanda McCaddon. I have not had this problem with any other Audible book and I have over 35 on my IPod

Least of my favorites by Jane Austen

Story was very slow to me, the author did a good job but didn't capture the character changes as well as other authors in my opinion. I had a hard time getting involved in the story and had a hard time getting excited to turn it on again to finish the story. I love Jane Austen stories but this one just wasn't for me.
