Most people want to be writers.
Very few are willing to write inside a world that pushes back.
The Open World Fiction Project is not a how-to book, a motivational guide, or a shortcut to publishing. It is an invitation into The Fractured Atlas, a shared fictional universe where stories are grounded, consequences linger, and truth is always incomplete.
Inside this guide, you’ll find the rules, boundaries, and expectations for contributing original work to a living narrative ecosystem that includes The Midwife and the Medic, The Puppet Masters, and the growing constellation of Fractured Atlas side stories. You’ll learn what belongs in this world, what doesn’t, and why tone matters more than cleverness.
This book is for writers and creators who want more than a blank page. It’s for those willing to work within constraints, respect realism, and add texture instead of answers. Whether you’re a first-time author looking for a legitimate way in, or a seasoned writer ready to experiment inside a curated universe, this guide shows you how to contribute work that fits…and survives.
If you’re looking for validation, this isn’t it.
If you’re looking for a real world to write inside, you’ve found it.
Welcome to the Fractured Atlas.
Now the question is simple: are you ready?
About the author-
Dr. David Powers is an adventurer, philosopher, and pioneer and lives a life of constant experimentation. His life's compass is "to seek out adventure in everything he does by being intentional, determined, and unstoppable and by energizing and outfitting others to embark on their own adventures". He is a decorated veteran of the Marine Corps and a founding member of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. He is married and the proud father of four feral boys and one princess that he and his wife homeschool. His mission in life is to find the magical best mug of coffee in the world.
