Okay, so you HAVE to read this book.
Picture this: girl wakes up with black and white striped hair and stitches everywhere, right? Turns out she's literally Frankenstein's bride—like, assembled from spare parts specifically to marry this mad scientist guy named Victor. But here's the thing that made me absolutely cackle: she takes one look at him and goes "Yeah, no thanks."
Victor is SO convinced she'll be grateful for existing that he's already planned their wedding, commissioned her a dress, and enrolled them both in couples therapy. WITHOUT ASKING HER. I'm talking mechanical orchestras serenading her at 7 AM, love letters delivered by flying robots, the whole nine yards of romantic disaster.
Meanwhile, this mysterious vampire shows up being all charming and "I'm here to rescue you from this terrible situation"—except plot twist, he's got his own agenda and his dad is literally the Vampire King trying to prevent some ancient supernatural power couple situation.
But wait, it gets better. Every time Cordelia gets angry (which is constantly, because HELLO, everyone's trying to control her life), her electrical powers go haywire and she accidentally brings random stuff to life. I'm talking skeleton teaching aids forming unions, war memorials giving political speeches, and her breakfast porridge organizing the kitchen staff into a democracy.
The whole thing snowballs until she's accidentally started a supernatural civil rights movement while trying to avoid getting married, there are cosmic entities trying to eat reality, and somehow the solution involves creating the first supernatural democracy in European history.
It's like Pride and Prejudice meets The Addams Family with a healthy dose of political revolution. The humor is DARK but not mean—think Gail Carriger vibes with feminist bite. Perfect enemies-to-lovers paranormal romance where the girl actually gets to make her own choices instead of just accepting whatever destiny some dude planned for her.
Trust me, you'll devour this in one sitting. It's got everything: monster romance, Victorian gothic atmosphere, laugh-out-loud moments, and a heroine who literally sparks when she's annoyed. Plus the ending is chef's kiss perfect—no spoilers, but let's just say consent wins.
Seriously, add this to your TBR immediately.
Some inheritances come with strings attached. Hers came with stitches.
