A Novel

The lives and loyalties of four people are intertwined in this novel. Sam Stillwater, a successful playwright and actor, sees his life upended by the brutal murder of his wife by his ex-girlfriend Tara Turpin. He gives up writing to devote his loyalties to his daughter Harper. Tara’s mother is Supreme Court Judge Clarissa Turpin, who is more loyal to her conservative beliefs than to the U.S. Constitution. Intersecting with these people is Olivia Fuentes, whose journalistic ambitions are more important than her personal relationships. This book is a fascinating study in what core beliefs people are willing to embrace or discard.
