main character not relatable
I'm not done with the book yet, so maybe it will get better, but I am very put off by the main character being a woman in her mid 30s and feeling threatened by high school girls and comparing her looks to theirs and going as far as copying their looks. This feels totally unrelatable to the experience of a woman in their mid 30s. Maybe I'm too old, because I've crossed into my early 40s, but I haven't compared myself to high school girls since I was in high school. what is happening here?
update 1: I'm further in. Seems to have gotten worse before getting better. A high school student made a move on a woman in her mid 30s, and she briefly considered it before saying no?!?
update 2: finished the book. the main character is a bit infuriating.
this book side, I have enjoyed other books by this author, especially Last Summer at the Golden Hotel and the Floating Feldman's.

Don't !
This book is 100% predictable. The writing is simplistic and the main character is annoying and one dimensional. It amazes me how books like this get published. I began using it as a means to fall asleep at night.
