Many doctrines teach loving ourselves always results in becoming prideful, arrogant, and sinful. Out of fear, people set up their own standard in a vacuum as to what actions are considered sinful. 1 Samuel 16:7 tells us man only looks at the outward appearance, but God looks at our hearts. Jesus always differentiated be-tween actions and heart attitudes. Rather than judging ourselves based solely on our actions, we need to learn how to ask God to show us our motives and agree with His findings. Critiquing your definition of loving yourself is imperative if you want to love others well. We are made to give to others out of the overflow we receive. Matthew 22 makes it clear we can-not love others in a godly, healthy way if we don’t first apply that principle to ourselves. Understanding how Jesus loved himself well requires willingness to critique the glasses you use when reading the Bible. I encourage you to re-evaluate your foundational beliefs on how God views his creation. It will significantly impact your understanding and insight into how to care for those you lead. I will share observations of ways Jesus modeled loving God. Reflection questions give you an opportunity to uncover your beliefs and feelings about each observation. The challenge assignment leads you through the process of critiquing your style in comparison with Jesus’ model. Cristianismo Inspiración y Crecimiento Espiritual Vida Cristiana
