Resumen del Editor

Lisa Morgan didn’t know how strong she was until she lost everything.

Following eight exhausting years working in a warzone, Lisa was burnt out and ready for a new chapter in her life - hopefully one that involved a little romance.

In her forties and doubtful of ever finding true love, she meets an exotic African man who promises her happiness and the life she dreams of.

Little did Lisa know that this decision would lead to heartache, a torturous legal battle and near bankruptcy.

They move to Uganda, but her dreams of a happy marriage soon fade after he takes control of her life - and her life savings. As she uncovers his cruelty, the relationship becomes violent and she seeks help from the police. But not even they can be trusted, and a corrupt legal system pushes her close to death.

Alone and penniless, she prepares to leave the country - but how? She is destitute and her legal status is precarious and tied up in bewildering red tape. Trapped in the terrifying depths of a lawless country with court procedures and unruly lawyers to tackle, she finds solace with unlikely strangers and is empowered by the natural beauty of the country that had become a prison. But when tragedy strikes a final blow, Lisa must break a few laws of her own to break free.

A story of love and money, Love Has Many Faces is one woman’s shocking tale of survival. This brutally frank memoir recounts a painful event that shows how easily things can go wrong when faced with betrayal, and how you never really know your own strengths until you are stripped of everything.

What a rollercoaster

I'm not usually a fan of biographies but this one made me a believer. This story was an incredible rollercoaster. As the title suggests, love in its many forms are front and center. Put simply, Lisa Morgan trusted the wrong man and it cost her dearly. The first person account was riveting and I was constantly in awe that Lisa survived. She was in a hostile country (to her) and there is no way this book should have had a happy ending. Her perseverance was a thing of beauty.

The narrator had a great voice. I only wish that at the height of emotion and despair, that more of that came out in the spoken word. Perhaps, as written, I really felt what Lisa was going through. I just didn't hear the desperation in the narrator's voice.

I don't know if other books by Morgan are available. It would be great to hear what happens next!

Truth is Stranger than Fiction

Listening to this almost unbelievable account speaks to a resilience that very few possess. This was one of the most interesting tales of deception and crime I have ever heard but it's so much more than that. It's well written, well told, the pace is excellent. It's gripping but what really got me was the author's ability to find hope in such despair, to never stop fighting (sometimes literally) for her rights as a human being, her ability to adapt and learn dangerous environments just enough to build a few real allies, how she used spirituality to calm her mind such as prayer and give her discernment. She lived to tell. She is a hero to me.

everything your mother warned you about

This is such a gripping tale of deception, love and strength. I was shocked to find out it was an autobiography. Lisa trusted the wrong person and found herself in a horrible situation, She trusted a man and lost everything. I cannot even imagine giving up everything and moving to another country, then to find out I was fooled and now I am stuck with no way of caring for myself. That is exactly what Lisa went through. With online dating so popular now, I think this is a book all young adults should read. This is the truth about what could and did happen. The world is a scary place and not everyone is trustworthy. Lisa is a very strong woman to be able to survive what she did and still be able to write about it.

This was my first listen to Sarah Barbet. She has an easy to listen to voice. Her ability to bring out all the emotions and struggles that Lisa dealt with was amazing. I got lost in her narration and it felt as if I was living the nightmare along side of Lisa. Ms. Barbet's narration enhanced the overall experience of this story.
