Resumen del Editor

"Mom, Dad, I'm gay."

One Facebook message completely changed Becky Mackintosh's life in the blink of an eye. Though she had often wondered about her son Sean when he was young, she had never entertained the possibility that her suspicions could be true.

And just like that, battle lines were drawn between siblings, parents, and friends with the church somewhere in the middle. A choice was before the Mackintosh family. Just not the one they were expecting.

Experience Becky's journey and witness how her faith allowed her to embrace her religion and her gay son. She'll tell you that the answer to every question and conflict is love.

Excellent Book!

A must read for everyone who desires to better understand and truly love their LGBT friends and family as the Savior would, and stay true to their faith.

A resonating balm

I was skeptical about this book, but found myself completely moved by it. It resonated with so many of my own thoughts that I have struggled to articulate. I found myself getting emotional at times, and truthfully felt like this was a cool drink in a desert. I will be rereading this again and again.

Beutiful!

Beautiful! Iam so grateful for this book and Becky's perspective. It is raw and honest. I appreciate the courage it took to tell her family's story, mistakes and all. We must love and accept ALL of of God's children.

An example of Unconditional Love Looks Like

Many in the Moral Majority or the Religious Right forget when it comes to issues surrounding LGBTQ+ individuals is that their definition of unconditional love looks quite different from mine and the author of this audio book. I listened and felt touched to moistened eyes as the mother describes the difficult time her son had being Mormon and Gay.

Eventually her son was honestly accepted by his family and unconditional love is shown.

Moving and inspiring

As someone who is gay and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, this one hits home for me. Becky, Scott and Xian share their story of learning by faith and grace how to love unconditionally. Their story is vulnerable, courageous, faith-filled and inspiring without discounting the very real and difficult journey that they have walked. Regardless of what your background may be, I think this book holds key lessons about love and faith. Highly recommended!

Amazing book!

This book really helped me with the struggles I’ve had with the coming out of my own daughter. I wish I would have read it a long time ago.

Very inspiring, a must read.

I loved listening to this story. It was honest and heartfelt as they shared the ups and downs of their experience. While I do not have a child who is gay I do have nephews, cousins, and children of friends who are. I had read several books from the gay person's perspective and it was interesting and inspiring to hear it from the parent of a gay person's perspective. And really the things they shared about loving and not judging apply to so many situations not just having a family member or friend who is gay. I highly recommend reading or listening to it. And I liked that it was the author, her son and her husband who did the reading. It made the emotion more authentic.

Like listing to an abused love one justify it

I feel like everything Becca and Scott learned about loving their children was in spite of their religion, yet they still give it credit for every good thing in their lives.

Reading this book made me physically sick. It is a perfect example of how someone can convince themselves they love an abusive partner. I was glad to see their growth, but it still makes me sick to see them defending their abusive, controlling religion. They refused to acknowledge where they learned the ugly hurtful things they thought about gay people and blamed themselves for the actions of their abusers.
