Micah Pierce fears for her life as she escapes an abusive relationship. To her, California is the perfect place to create a new identity. Micah’s fears of being found escalate as her bus breaks down in the Panhandle of Texas. When the bus leaves without her, she’s forced to rely on the kindness of a stranger, Emma Lewis. Emma assures Micah she’s in the safest place possible, but Micah can’t help but look over her shoulder. As Micah comes to know the community around her and their love for God, she can’t help but feel unworthy because of her dark past.

Ryder Hayes owns one of the most successful ranches outside of Perryton, Texas. When his cook is called away for a family emergency, his sister, Emma suggests that Micah take the job to earn money and keep her mind off the dangerous man that’s pursuing her. Ryder had always joked that if God had wanted him to have a wife, He’d drop one in his lap. The moment he laid eyes on Micah; he knew she was the woman created especially for him. The problem was, convincing her that she’s worthy of love.

As Micah is being hunted down, can she learn to forgive herself for her past mistakes and embrace the love that Ryder is offering before it’s too late? Could she ever learn to let go and step into the light of God, and the promise of a new life, or would she forever live in the shadows of the past?

I enjoyed “Lost in the Panhandle” the genre of the book is not one that I would normally be drawn to. It is a Christian western Love story. I like non- fiction histories like those written by David McCullough, action fiction like Tom Clancy, John Grisham and James Patterson. , and classical fiction like Crime and Punishment, Don Quixote…
There was enough action and suspense in Lost in the Panhandle to hold my attention and keep me wondering about what was next in the story. It provided some insight into a time when neighbors became like family and watched out for each otherworldly .
I liked the characters of Micah, and Ryder and how human nature being what it is needs to be countered to allow love to blossom. Good story waiting for the next book.

The number of voices dramatized and how I could follow the action by the voice dramatization.
