Roland was a man out of place, a boy who had been pushed through the system, learning war, learning Christianity and learning to kill.

Like most soldiers, he did not learn to hate. He followed orders just as soldiers do in this era. But he came from the thirteenth century, the sixth and seventh crusades. He did not hate the infidels, he simply did as he was told, and did it well.

However, he bravely fought through Damietta as the Templar Knights, all of 290 strong in their frightening armor and massive horses, along with well over a 200,000 member strong Frankish army and calvary (French), simply rode over all resistance.

But at Mansourah, something went wrong, and Roland found himself far from the battle, lost and bewildered. He was prepared to be the martyr he had believed...

But a beautiful Arabic woman, speaking in a language he could not understand, would not let him die... Hate and love are not that far apart, and understanding always bridges the gap...
