Set in the quiet town of Tannenheim, Germany, in late autumn 2015, Lost Property follows Montgomery “Monty” Bradley Brodnitz, a British lost property dealer navigating the challenges of his adopted home. When the local mayor announces that the town’s historic castle will be repurposed to house refugees, tensions rise, sparking protests and awakening far-right unrest.

As Monty witnesses the violence that erupts, he is forced to confront not only the shifting political landscape but also the fractures within his own family—his rebellious teenage son Julian and his wife Ingrid, the daughter of Sudetenland refugees. Struggling with his long-held beliefs and shaken by the community’s reaction, Monty embarks on a painful journey of self-reflection.
