Rushed Love, Shallow Execution

I usually enjoy a short read, but this one didn’t quite land for me. At under 70 pages, the pacing felt rushed, and Jason and Ava’s relationship never had the chance to develop beyond the surface. Within two days, he’s professing love—and while that can work in some stories, here it felt unearned. What really pulled me out, though, was the repeated mention of Ava’s weight and Jason’s insistence that he’s “unbothered” by it. Instead of coming across as affirming, it felt overdone and awkward. Overall, the story had potential but lacked the depth and authenticity I was hoping for.
