Resumen del Editor

It's murder running a Ponzi scheme

Money manager J. R. Johnson coasts through life in his adopted home of Austin, Texas. Seen as an underachiever by his family, J.R. has a complicated relationship with a client, movie goddess Lola Madison.

When Lola asks J.R. to accompany her to a New York gala event, Johnson has reason to suspect that she may be moving her account to a Wall Street hotshot. J. R. investigates and suspects that the New Yorker is running an audacious Ponzi scheme.

Suspenseful, funny, with lots of surprises, and insights into how Wall Street really works.

Rich Descriptions and Vivid Imagery

Lola Madison is a movie goddess who often tours the clubs and award ceremonies with J.R. Johnson, her money manager. J.R. is a fun, easy-going guy with high ethical standards. He questions Lola’s money decisions when she transfers her entire fortune to Stanton Banks. It doesn’t take J.R. long to figure out what is going on, but it is several bodies later before he can wade through the corrupt and untrustworthy system Banks has in place.

A well-written mystery that provides detailed insight into the world of Ponzi schemes and finances. Jim Flynn, the author, provides solid character development for each character essential to the plot. There were no superfluous characters, each one had its significance to the story. Flynn used rich descriptions that created vivid imagery of the characters and the story. The plot twists were surprising and well done. I enjoyed the easy-going, witty J.R. and thought he was a solid lead character who could easily become a lead in a series.

The narrator, Gary Williams performed the audiobook expertly. His voice was clear and calming, he made following the book easy. Although this is my first-time hearing Williams perform, he was the right narrator for this book. I look forward to hearing more narrated by him.
I enjoyed this book.

The production and quality of this audiobook were clear and crisp with no issues.

Audio version is great

I’ve read the book and also listening on audio. I already knew it was a great story, but the narrator takes it to a new level. Def worth a listen.

Fantastic book that should be made into a movie

This was a riveting story that I couldn’t stop listening to. I visualized the characters and loved every twist and turn until the end and then thought about the sequel that I hope will be coming soon.

The author did a lot of research (sort of like Tom Clancy but in a different area) so I learned a lot about Ponzi schemes, the Russian mob and even the interests of women I had not focused on before! Great book!

Jim Flynn’s Mind is Fantastic!

Quick witted JR is a money manager who uncovers the corrupt workings of a Wall Street hedge fund manager, and the Russian mob. With wonderful characters, a fascinating narrative, sprinkled with humor, Losing Lola is intellectually written and difficult to put down. (Or listen to, the audio book is very good!) Follow JR as he tries to expose corruption in Wall Street and law enforcement, while being hunter by the press and a killer. Can’t wait to read book two!

Well paced, read and delivered by Gary Williams!
