Can a former attorney and a war veteran keep an assaulted student safe and heal their own troubled pasts?
“Edgy, gutsy, real," says Varina Denman, Author of the Mended Hearts Series.

Attorney Alexis Jergenson leaves her law firm and the pain of her clients’ abuse cases and decides to start over in a small Tennessee town. The Christian college there is desperate for a law professor, and she is desperate for a new career. The problem is she’s not a Christian, but when a student is assaulted and comes to her for help, Alexis will need to reach through the injustice of her own past to find justice for another.

Luke Stephens is recovering from the effects of the Afghanistan war. He’s settled down to teach and to work his ranch. His only problem is with the new law professor—she looks too much like his unfaithful ex, and Luke will do anything to avoid her.

But when the student's attacker strikes again, Luke and Alexis forge an unlikely team to protect her, putting their lives and their hearts in danger.

A book that will linger in your mind long after you read the last page…” Debby Mayne, author of the Belles in the City series. Looking for Justice is book 4 of the Dangerous series, but also a stand alone. Looking for Justice is a Christian book, but contains sensitive subject matter.

The book is written from a Christian perspective but does not shy away from problems Christians cause. It is as much the Christian’s journey as it is the unbeliever’s journey. The romance is sweet even if I wanted to slap the guy a few times. Haha. Both protagonists were written really well and very likable though flawed. The flaws made them more relatable and likable, actually.

The book is in part about rape victims’ experience with reporting the crime. The legal system is difficult, and the family response as well as police response is dramatized. It is amazing that the law lets abusers free like that, but while this story takes the perp’s actions after he is arrested to an extreme, we all hear stories like this one, unfortunately.

The Virtual Voice is not great. The book could easily have a narrator because it is very good. Regardless, I am glad the book is part of the Audible Plus catalog which I have noticed is getting smaller and smaller.
