When she asks Joe to help her find her father, an ex-con named Art Delaney, Joe tries to resent her for her wealth and success, even as she draws him into a passionate affair. But as he digs into Art’s life and his criminal past, he is forced to confront the reality of the town he grew up in–the good, the bad, and the ugly. He finds the roots of that ugly past, long buried but not forgotten, about to spring up in the present and blossom in blood.

Looking for Art will change the way Joe sees himself, his town, and Art’s daughter. Or, it could get him killed, the biggest change of all.

Good Boston Criminal Underground Crime Drama

Disclaimer: I was given a promo code by a friend to give this a listen and review. It wasn’t my typical listen but I enjoyed the missing person drama with the criminal underbelly tones and corruption hints in the book. The narrator did a great job with the voices and accents with the right inflections and tempo. The story was well written with good plot twists. I definitely enjoyed it more than I thought I would. The four stars were because while the romance scenes were necessary for the story, they could have either been much grittier or cleaner. It was in between which made the scenes feel a little awkward.

Clever absorbing mystery

Joe Polito is a very unusual ex-cop , self assured, tough and likable. His unofficial case is clever, absorbing and a really terrific listen despite, ,to my ears, a slightly unpleasant tone.
