This is the story of a huge, rogue, black wolf who roamed the untamed wilderness of what eventually became present day Montana. His intense hatred for man was unwittingly kindled by a savage act perpetrated on him and his family by bounty hunters when he was very young.

His life's journey, became an endless battle against his most hated enemy, Man. Through an unlikely friendship fostered between the desperately injured pup and an old Indian, the wolf learned the uncanny skills he would employ on his vengeful quest. Indeed, the huge black wolf became so cunning at avoiding those who so desperately hunted him, that more than one came to believe that the animal they sought to kill, was a spirit.
