Resumen del Editor

A Candy Man Book

Ezra Kellerman flew across the country to see if he had another chance with the man he let slip through his fingers. He didn't. Rico has moved on, but he doesn't just leave his ex high and dry. Instead Rico entrusts his family and friends with Ezra's care. Ezra, confused, hurt, and lost, clings to Rico's cousin and his boyfriend as the lifelines they are - but their friend, Miguel, is another story.

Miguel Rodriguez had great plans and ambition - but a hearty dose of real life crushed those flat. When Miguel finds himself partially in charge of the befuddled, dreamy, healing Ezra, he's pretty resentful at first. But Ezra's placid nature and sincere wonder at the simple life Miguel has taken for granted begin to soften Miguel's hardened shell. Miguel starts to notice that Ezra isn't just amazingly sweet - he's achingly beautiful as well. Suddenly Miguel is fending off every single man on the planet to give Ezra room to get over Rico - while fighting a burning suspicion that the best thing to help Ezra get over his broken heart is Miguel.

I love this series! Alces does fantastic job

This is book three in the series and though it can probably be read as a standalone why the heck would you do that?

Ezra was Rico’s boyfriend in New York, he broke Rico’s heart and then went decidedly off the rails in his cubicle where he worked for his evil father.

After recovering from his breakdown – as much as he could – he decided to go to Sacramento to win Rico back. He’s heartbroken when he realizes that ain’t gonna happen. So… Rico dumps him on the lawn of Adam and Finn and … Miguel who happened to be there at the time. Though it’s a little bit of tears and recriminations at first, Ezra fairly easily falls into a nice routine there on the magic couch at Adam’s.

Miguel doesn’t really know what to do with Ezra, the little kitten with the sad eyes. His crush on Adam is still freshly sore and his business has failed and he’s back selling candy… life is not his playground right now.

Darrin ends up pushing Miguel and Ezra together at work and over time the two become close friends… but it’s not til they take a drive to Disneyland that they realize that this is something more.

**

I’m not sure if I’ve said it before or not, but Amy Lane is not just a great storyteller – she’s a great writer! Not all authors are those together. Some can really spin a tale and keep you on the edge of your seat but their prose is nothing special. Or the reverse, some authors can really form a sentence and choose the best words and make lovely imagery – but their story is sort of – blah.

Amy tells us these wonderful tales and then she throws in these phrases and images that remind me that she’s a good “writer” too.

I loved the little twists and turns this story took and the slow burn. Neither guy was really looking for love and it kind of snuck up on them. But… once that light bulb flashed they were done looking – for good. It was awesome!

I know that fans of the series will be jumping on this, and I want to urge anyone who hasn’t yet to pick up the first book and read all three (or listen!) because this is a sweet and wonderful “light” series by a gifted writer and it shouldn’t be missed!

(PS can’t wait for the story that’s hinted at the end… it’s gonna be a good one!)

Audio

Philip Alces did a surprisingly great job with this. I loved his accents and thought he did a great job with Miguel’s family. I’m thoroughly enjoying this series in both audio and written format and highly recommend them both!

Nice addition

4 Stars

I have to say that I love this series for some odd reason. I don't normally like sappy and sweet romances, but Amy Lane just writes phenomenal stories that I can't get enough of.

There were certain parts of this story that I loved and others that I didn't.

I absolutely hated that Miguel felt so unloved by his family. It hurt my heart a bit, but I can see how he would feel that way in such a large family since sadly, that does happen. I hated Ezra's family. They upset me so much, but again, there are really people out there like that. But what I guess what really made this book not a favorite was how long it took for our two men to actually get together and start helping each other heal.

I will say I was left really interested to see where Darrin's interest in Ezra's dreams goes in the future.

The narrator did a good job with the book even with as many male characters as there were and trying to keep them sounding different from each other.

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.

Another good one

It can be stand alone but I recommend at least reading the 2nd book for the best experience. Lane really spins great stories they're a little sappy sweet but also really well written and Alces narration is spot on!

Loved it!!

I absolutely loved Ezra and Miguel’s story. I loved seeing Ezra’s come into his own and learn who he is.
Narration was great by Philip Alces. He’s not a master of voices but his energy and enthusiasm makes up for that!!
