Acerca de esta escucha
Award-winning journalist Bill Weir confronts the biggest threats to life as we know it and explores ideas for building a more promising future.
Bill Weir has spent decades telling the stories of unique people, places, cultures, and creatures on the brink of change. As the first Chief Climate Correspondent in network news, he is immersed in the latest scientific warnings and breakthroughs while often on the frontlines of disasters, natural and manmade. After the birth of his son in April 2020, Bill began distilling these experiences into a series of Earth Day letters to his boy, weaving together worry and wonder into a poignant reminder that a better future can still be written.
Life as We Know It (Can Be) digs into fascinating corners of history, psychology, technology, and Bill’s own biography to connect the lessons he’s collected from the happiest, healthiest, and most resilient societies. From the sun-powered town that kept its lights on in a hurricane to the Antarctic nests of the one penguin species thriving amid climate change, Bill takes listeners around the world to collect dozens of practical ideas to help build a more resilient future.
Life as We Know It (Can Be) is a celebration of the wonders of our planet, a meditation on the human wants and needs that drive it out of balance, and an inspiration for communities to galvanize around nature and each other as the very best way to brace for what’s next.

“There is no other correspondent like Bill Weir, and there’s certainly no other book like this one. It’s moving, funny, frank, well-researched, beautifully written, and looks at climate change in a way I’ve never seen before.”—Anderson Cooper, CNN anchor, 60 Minutes correspondent, and New York Times–bestselling author

Outstanding
There’s nothing like a good story especially when both descriptive as well as personal. The events Bill referred to are on my timeline too.
I was left with hope for our future. That’s quite a gift in today’s crazy world.

Honesty …. and Self Actualization!
Enjoy that life’s learning it was actually something that one can write about that. Others can also listen carefully to and but use if finding it applicable, not only in their own lives, but in the lives of others with whom they encounter.

Thought provoking and a warning
presented actual effects of the too often dismissed climate change science that needs much more attention

Wowww…!
I couldn’t stop listening to!…especially the last few chapters…. I’ve learned so much from your stories! I really-really enjoyed the Hopeful ones!..!
And the way you would see people in their Pyramids…. And the last part of your entry to your children….that if you’re filling someone else’s Pyramid and the base of it, to always save the top of the Pyramid for your self….
I’m a paraplegic and care taker for my husband who’s a highly functional autistic…,
I really appreciated that I deserve the top of my Pyramid….
Thank you so much for the advice to not be alone.
Bless you and your families and friends….

Unexpected Humility wrapped in a great story
I had the great fortune to meet Bill Weir recently and I wish I had read this before. This was such a lovely tribute to his children and climate action.

Window dressing!
Boring, pretentious. Self aggrandizement has found a new poster boy. What trips off the tongue is a caricature of Wok wisdom based on this progressive’s doomsday speculations. Low on facts, high in conceivability.
