In the 1960s, the 007 film series established the highly successful James Bond formula. The series depicted its main character as the perfect embodiment of masculinity—a man always ready to drink a vodka martini, seduce a beautiful woman, and save the world.
The Bond series repeated this formula with each new film and rode it to box office records. The 007 film series remains one of the highest-grossing franchises in Hollywood history.
But with the arrival of Daniel Craig, the series slowly began breaking away from its Bond formula. First, Craig’s Bond suffered a broken heart. Then later, he is portrayed as past his prime.
With No Time to Die, Craig’s swan song as the British secret agent, the series significantly departed from its previous formula, going in even more daring directions.
