We always seem so willing to sacrifice ourselves in order to fulfill some desire, and yet it is almost unheard of for us to sacrifice a desire for the sake of our Self. The sorrow of man is that he is only free from his hunger when he eats.

It seldom occurs to us that whatever we persist within our lives works to perfect the same, so that by allowing persistent negative thoughts and feelings to have their way with us, we unknowingly perfect self-punishment!

Without our unconscious consent, regardless of what we may have done against others, or ourselves, the past is powerless to punish us in the present moment.

Every once in awhile, we have the great fortune of perceiving a moment of such astonishing beauty, or harmony, that we lose ourselves within it. But what is far more amazing than any such vision is this breathtaking fact: were it not for our mysterious capacity to perfectly reflect that moment - to be one with it in heart, mind, and soul - there would be no beauty or harmony to behold.
