An illuminating and life-affirming for all women who want to get to more love and acceptance.
This is a wonderfully honest, heart-warming and life-reaffirming book with countless ideas, experiences, and insights for women of any age. Elisa Pool’s story of self-exploration and discovery is the story of many of us-daughters, friends, sisters, and mothers. It’s written with great vulnerability, love, and, above all, the power of overcoming grief, discovering love, accepting kindness and love, and learning how to stick to oneself, with “more grace, and less criticism.” There are so many quotes that stick out for me….”For most of my life, I showed up wanting to be liked. There's a big difference between being yourself and wanting to be liked. I don't think I even realized this tendency of mine until after I had you.” As women, as people, we have a beautiful and sinuous journey of accepting ourselves and our bodies and learning that we have the power to be who we are and who we want to be. This is an inspiring and illuminating memoir. Athena, you are lucky to have your mom.

Reminder to choose self-love
I really enjoyed Letters to My Daughter. It felt so real and personal, like listening to a close friend share her honest thoughts and experiences. I appreciated how open and vulnerable the author was about the ups and downs of finding her way back to self-love. The messages were comforting and easy to connect with, and they left me feeling more hopeful and encouraged about my own path.

Touching
This audiobook was such a great listen. It’s a woman telling her daughter (and son) stories of her life. They are captivating stories and the author is a similar age to me so a lot of the stories really resonated with my growing up. Each of the chapter stories had a morale lesson to learn for her kids. But really they are valuable for anyone. Overall a feel good book that also gets you to look at yourself in the mirror and decide who we want to be moving forward and that we have the power and control to do anything we want and to not let society tell us what that is. Does a great job at breaking down societies body image issues, which we need more of these days. Very inspirational.

Honest and real
Listening to this felt personal and real. The letters touched on identity, self-worth, and healing—things so many women struggle with but don’t always talk about. One part that really stuck with me was how she described learning to set boundaries without guilt. It gave me a lot to reflect on and a sense that I’m not alone in my own journey.

Honest, heartfelt reflections on self-love
I wasn’t expecting the mix of raw emotion and thoughtful insights this book offered. The letters touched on body image, health, and self-worth in a way that felt deeply personal yet universally relevant. What really stuck with me was how it wove in reflections on brain science alongside personal stories—it added layers I didn’t anticipate. It felt like listening to someone lay bare their journey, inviting me to reflect on my own relationship with self-acceptance.

Love, Lessons & Letters I Didn't Know I Needed
This audiobook felt like a warm hug and a reality check wrapped in one. As a mom and a woman constantly juggling everything, hearing these letters reminded me to pause and reconnect with myself. It’s raw, real, and exactly the kind of soul nourishment I didn’t realize I was missing.

This is a wonderfully written book
This book truly touched my heart. Elisa Pool writes with such honesty and vulnerability that it feels like she’s sitting across from you, sharing her story over a cup of coffee. Letters to My Daughter is more than just a collection of thoughts—it's a journey through pain, healing, and ultimately, rediscovering self-love. Her words are raw, powerful, and deeply relatable, especially for anyone who’s ever lost themselves while trying to be everything for everyone else. I felt seen, understood, and inspired. This is one of those books that stays with you long after you finish it.
