Excellent!

Wonderfully written, professionally read. The verbal performance did not get in the way of the narrative, a gift. The reader's French pronunciations hit just the right note. I learned so much about not just the Left Bank, but also about WWII in Paris and the struggles to keep communism (and capitalism, to a lesser extent) from dominating France and Western Europe. Highly recommended.

History Comes Alive Via Storytelling.

Very well written and the narration was wonderful and this book made really history come alive.

An interesting book about one of more compelling years of Parisian history just after WWII. Worthy to read.

Straightforward, direct, vivid account of a decade with many insightful portraits.

A dramatic story of developments in Paris over an important decade in political theory, philosophy, music, art, and literature. Many portraits are vividly drawn in regards to their personal lives and the influences on their thoughts and work. The interactions between American and European personalities are discussed with great insight. Well narrated to maintain the interest of listeners. highly recommended.

Terrible narration effort. Fact heavy

The narrator didn’t try. Just runs on, monotone without any sense of breaks for a book that changes subject constantly. They could have automated the audio and has the effect. Just lazy production, and it completely compromises the audio experience.

The book itself has issues. Factually dense. But so we really get sense of these artists and what they’re doing? The facts do add up to something.
