Lebanese Recipes

Lebanon is a country in Western Asia. It is located between Syria to the north and east and Israel to the south, while Cyprus lies to its west across the Mediterranean Sea. Lebanon’s location at the crossroads of the Mediterranean Basin and the Arabian hinterland has contributed to its rich history and cultural identity.

Lebanese cuisine is similar to many countries in the Eastern Mediterranean, such as Syria, Turkey, Greece, and Cyprus. The Lebanese national dishes are the kibbe, which is a meat pie made from finely minced lamb and burghul (cracked wheat). Also, tabbouleh, a salad made from parsley, tomatoes, and burghul wheat.

Lebanese restaurant meals begin with a wide array of mezze, which are small savory dishes, such as dips, salads, and pastries. The mezze are typically followed by a selection of grilled meat or fish.

Meals are finished with Arabic coffee and fresh fruit, and a selection of traditional sweets will be offered as well.
