Not all Spanish is the same. If you want to learn introductory Spanish as a beginner and are visiting Costa Rica, this is an ideal way to learn the language over 10 sessions of appropriately 40 minutes each. The course will also help you understand specific aspects of Costa Rica's culture and history in order to prepare you to visit or live in the country. Costa Rican topics included are street Spanish or ''Pachuco', awareness of Costa Rican weather, foods, idioms, expressions and dialects. The language basics start with simple greetings, numbers and colors that will be frequently used and then progress to more complex expressions and sentence structure.
Throughout the course you will also hear brief conversations to put your comprehension skills to the test and show real-world Spanish usage. Of course, unique Costarriqueñismos are included, such as Pura Vida and beyond. This is an excellent introduction to the nuances of Costa Rican Spanish! Please note that if you can already speak Spanish this is a basic/elementary course and though you will be exposed throughout the course to the Costa Rican accent and expressions, you will likely find the content too basic for you if you already speak Spanish at an intermediate to advanced level because the course does not only focus on the differences between Costa Rican Spanish and other Spanish dialects/variants.
This course is for you if you are relatively new to Spanish and planning to put their Spanish skills to use in Costa Rica by learning more about the unique and exciting culture, testing your skills by hearing conversations, and acquiring commonly used vocabulary that you can easily put to use.
