Joining us at Audible Studios is writer, speaker and podcast host on topics of race, identity, leadership, personal transformation and social change Layla Saad. Her Instagram challenge, #meandwhitesupremacy, led to her workbook being downloaded by over 80,000 people, and now Saad has published an extended version as a book.
Saad grew up for the first few years of her life in Wales and now lives in Qatar in the Middle East, with her husband and two children. Saad's main motivation in life is to become a 'good ancestor'. This personal mission has influenced the writing of Me and White Supremacy, and Saad hosts a Good Ancestor podcast, in which she interviews guests from a wide range of personal and professional backgrounds.
We spoke to Layla Saad about why she felt called to tackle white supremacy, how ingrained white privilege is in society and why being a 'good ancestor' is of such importance to her.

Layla Saad is my SHERO!
I was raised like most little white girls I knew...no elbows on the table, brush your teeth before bed, white folks are superior. Oh, well, that last one was never actually said out loud, but it was definitely said.
I will never be as grateful for any other material thing as I am for 'Me & White Supremacy."
It's kind of funny (& I don't mean 'haha') how the white folks I know love to talk about all sorts of things, but let me bring up racism & it's crickets. I'm sure I was the same way. Just so grateful my 'readiness' to face myself & Layla's book met up at the exact same time.
