She speaks to canon lawyers, abuse survivors and even a nun who insists that the Virgin Mary starts her car every morning.

What an insightful, funny, honest and enlightening read (listen). Thank you Monica Dux. You give me courage to continue to explore, write & share the stories of my own untangling from Catholicism.

This book was suggested to me by someone on the Reddit ExCatholic subreddit after I experienced some severe trauma at the hands of the Church. While I still believe in God and Jesus (the author is now an atheist) this book helped me come to peace with leaving the Church. It helped me to better understand and voice many of the issues I've had with Catholicism over the years, and did all this in a delightful and heartfelt book. At times humorous, while at other times tear inducing, I actually felt sad when the book ended and wanted to immediately begin it again!
