FROM THE AUTHOR OF THE NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLING NOVEL SHIVER

Sixteen-year-old Deirdre Monaghan is a painfully shy but prodigiously gifted musician. She's about to find out she's also a cloverhand - one who can see faeries. Deirdre finds herself infatuated with a mysterious boy who enters her ordinary suburban life, seemingly out of thin air. Trouble is, the enigmatic and gorgeous Luke turns out to be a gallowglass - a soulless faerie assassin. An equally hunky - and equally dangerous - dark faerie soldier named Aodhan is also stalking Deirdre. Sworn enemies, Luke and Aodhan each have a deadly assignment from the Faerie Queen. Namely, kill Deirdre before her music captures the attention of the Fae and threatens the Queen's sovereignty. Caught in the crossfire with Deirdre is James, her wisecracking but loyal best friend. Deirdre had been wishing her life weren't so dull, but getting trapped in the middle of a centuries-old faerie war isn't exactly what she had in mind....

Lament is a dark faerie fantasy that features authentic Celtic faerie lore.

"Vibrant and potent, YA readers searching for faerie stories will be happy to find this accomplished debut novel." (Publishers Weekly, starred review)

"This beautiful and out-of-the-ordinary debut novel, with its authentic depiction of Celtic Faerie lore and dangerous forbidden love in a contemporary American setting, will appeal to readers of Nancy Werlin's Impossible and Stephenie Meyer's Twilight series." (Booklist, starred review)

"Part adventure, part fantasy, and wholly riveting love story, Lament will delight nearly all audiences with its skillful blend of magic and ordinary life." (KLIATT, starred review)

I almost didn't buy this book because the preview wasn't very interesting. I'm glad I gave it a try. Now I'll be listening to all the other Stiefvater books with the same narrator.

Loved this book !

Dee’s self talk is done so well. Not the first of hers that made me love the book even more

Wonderful Narration

Another brilliantly written story by Maggie Stiefvater. Do you believe in fairies? Did you think they were sweet?

Beautiful written

Don't get me wrong. Even though the target audience may be those on the not-yet side of the first kiss and I kept waiting for the story to derail into something swarmy, in the end I felt like I had heard a good story - as in creative plot, Before the story really got into other-worldly mode, I felt the teens' dialog was rather beyond normal as well.

Puke-arella meets Hot (reformed bad?) Boy

Maggie never disappoints.
There was not as much at stake as one would be led to believe by the synopsis but I enjoyed the story.

I enjoyed it very much

It's been a while since I've read one of Maggie's books and I almost forgot how amazing of a writer she is! Oh but I was quickly reminded as I read Lament! I absolutely loved it and the Narrator was perfect for it! Carly Robbins brought the characters to life and enhanced the story even more! I can't wait to see where Dee, Luke and James' story goes!

Absolutely LOVED!!!!

Really enjoyed the story! Love how the author paints such a detailed image for the reader. Not a big fan of the ending.

Narrator a little rough on the Irish accent lol. Otherwise very enticing, romance and faeries.

Great story, as always with Maggie Stiefvater.

I likes the story very much, but the narration was bothersome. personally, I would have preferred more natural voices.

Good story; irritating narration
