From the early days of the church until the present day, many have sought to rewrite who Jesus was, what He taught, what His ministry meant. But John, in his three New Testament epistles, minces no words to make the person, teachings, and ministry of Jesus plain. Jesus is the eternal Word, manifested in the flesh. Jesus teaches us to believe in Him and so enjoy the Fellowship of the Triune God. Jesus' ministry was a tactical nuke on the headquarters of Satan's empire.

All rival versions of Jesus eventually leave you with a hollowed out Gospel, which may offer a shadowy sense of mystical superiority. But these empty christs cannot bring you new life. They cannot bring you fellowship with God and therefore, cannot bring you joy. John writes that your joy may be full, because he tells believers of all ages that Jesus is the Christ, manifested in the flesh. This is a pastoral commentary on John's epistles, aimed at explaining to the average Christian how all of these deep theological glories are profound comforts for the wisest and the simplest amongst the Saints of God.
