Laura Woodcross has searched for a long time to find somewhere she felt comfortable. After her fiancé was diagnosed with cancer and died before they could get married, she's felt lost and alone in the great big world. She had to fight for her place in the large animal care program, and nothing ever seems to work out for her.

When she shows up to interview for a position at The Texas Longhorn Ranch, Todd Stewart is struck by her charm and beauty. She's good at putting on a happy front, and she interviews well. She saves a mother sheep and baby lamb during the interview, and Todd reasons that he can hire her without anyone knowing about his pounding heart and love-at-first-sight feelings.

As they spend more time working together, and then meeting for lunches, dinners, and dates, Laura knows she's going to have to tell him about her past. Todd knows his family is crazy and loud, and Laura's isn't. He thinks that might be the barrier between them, but Laura knows it's her.

Can she get out of her own way to find true love with her cowboy boss? Or will she keep rebuilding the walls and isolating herself?

Besides not liking the AI voice this story is not good. I got up to chapter 4 and couldn’t go any further. Besides the narration referring to the female character’s father as “daddy” every time he is mentioned the premise was not for me. Girl not over dead fiancé and needs to basically be forced to date a guy she kinda likes. It was blah writing.
