I worked so hard for seven years to build a blog from absolute nothing to an authority website in my niche. Why, after all that hard work to arrive at such an enviable place, would I just hastily yank it down?

Blogging is Dead, Long Live the Blog!

What made the experience of listening to Kill Your Blog the most enjoyable?

Matt is not only an educator, but an entertainer. If the name "Buck Flogging" makes you chuckle, then you'll probably appreciate Matt's sense of humour.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Kill Your Blog?

I think Matt's approach to controlling the order in which he delivers information to his readers would be helpful to writers in a niche on a complicated subject which requires them to educate their readers in order for them to really become fans.

For others, in a niche less technical, blogging might still be worthwhile. For example, the website The Oatmeal is about telling stories and making an emotional connection with the author's audience. The Oatmeal comics get passed around from person to person, providing free advertising. Then, people who love them, buy the physical products (posters, books, etc).

So, you have to figure out what kind of online business model will work best for what you are trying to do. But, as Matt clearly explains, blogging may be bogging you down.

Have you listened to any of Matt Stone’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

He's definitely more comfortable behind the microphone now, than he was when he first started. He even does voices, people. :)

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

It's entirely possible for an author to self-publish and make a living from his or her work. If your goal is to write books, and sell them, it would be worth your time to consider some of the methods Matt has found allowed him to achieve a decent income from his writing.

What did you love best about Kill Your Blog?

Honestly, I loved that it was short and succinct. I was teetering on writing a blog to bring in extra money for my family... but was dreading it at the same time. (I know, great start for a business plan.) After I read Stone's book, it occurred to me that just maybe I could write the book instead!

Loved the smarta**iness and passion.

Great content with a sarcastic twist

While I was disappointed to learn Buck Flogging's true identity (LOL), I will be forever in figurative debt to his altar ego. Seriously, if you are about to start blogging (as I was) READ OR LISTEN TO THIS BOOK! Matt will save you hundreds, if not thousands of wasted hours. He breaks down exactly why blogging is a bad idea, while turning what would have been your blog posts into a book is a proven strategy for success. Seriously read the book … I'm not kidding … No, really… Read it… Now!

Like on buck books you shouldn't have to pay more

Than a buck for this book. That's about how much new value it gives you. There are some interesting ideas shared in between all the self-promotion and cross-promotion of his other books and the 100 other ppl have already said the same thing in their book.

It's a decent book, short, sweet and fun, but not worth more than a buck.

This book contains very good content and was interesting enough that I would listen to it again. Matt Stone is an excellent narrator of his material--very down to earth.

If you can't deal with the occasional four letter word, don't buy it...but if you want some great information that will serve as a resource now and in the future, buy this book!

You have KILLED my desire to start a Blog

Thank you for this behind the curtain view of blogging to gain a following. I listened with great interest as I was days away from starting a blog on word press. So glad I didn't. The 12 reasons you sited were all insightful and compelling. Presented in a way I would have read them with my eyes, clear and to the point.

Audio is a great time saver. I plan to listen again to summarize and take notes for retention. Thanks again.

Buck Flogging speaks from experience. This is great information if you are thinking about blogging to earn an income from it or just trying to find ways to get your own information product business off the ground.
I am now enlightened and thanks to this book will probably save A LOT of time going too fast in the wrong direction.
