Irrational women

Oftentimes, I read these romances and think about that quote from “As Good as it Gets,” when Jack Nicholson says “I think of a man and then take away all reason and accountability.” That description fits almost every leading lady. What’s even more irksome than the negative archetype being perpetuated is that most of the novels are written by women. Can no one make a valid, compelling argument? Do none of them know how to be upset without whining and sulking? And the way they all fly off the handle when they have partial information or listen to women motivated by jealousy? They’re not only irrational, they are also insecure.

I had to fast forward entire chapters because I couldn’t tolerate Casey’s inability to put two and two together for herself. She is a drama queen. Who feels betrayed by what a man does before he met you? Or the loose ends he has to tie back home if he met you out of town. It makes no sense! What is there to forgive? Nothing at all, but she goes on with this same inane argument for chapters. It’s like the author just ran out of things to say and couldn’t stop writing until she met her word count. There should have been more conflict contrived in the plot! This narrative device did not work! I may not ever read another book by Dohner fot fear I may suffer a similar fate as a reader.

I really liked this book it has some funny moments when Casey thought he was bigfoot.

Not the best in the series!

While I love Laurann Dohner's books, this is not one of my favorites. And I think the narrator is just awful. Her voice is monotone and she shows no emotion. You really can't tell one character from another by listening to her voice. I think it's a shame that Laurann Dohner uses her almost exclusively to voice her books.

Zorn Book 2 Yes

This book in the series does a fair job of drawing you into the character's interactions; dare I say relationship? The whole series is over 21 material and yummy when that's what you're looking for. Narration is weak on male characters, but works in general. Well worth my purchase on sale.

No Means No

I kind of, sort of enjoyed this book. I love the feistiness of the MFC but the guy just ticks me off because he thinks because she is sexually attracted to him it’s okay to proceed with his little seduction games. Where I’m from No means No! The narration was good but I’m still kind of pissed even though they had a HEA.

Terrible narration of the male voices!

How could the performance have been better?

The narration of the male characters was very dull. The female voices were more expressive. The male voices all sound the same. I wish the narrator did the male voices better.

Any additional comments?

The story wasn't too bad. The characters were ok too.

Casey and Argernon

On the mission to Earth to find brides for Zorn warriors, Argernon isn't planning on finding a woman for himself. He happens upon two men trying to put handcuffs on a screaming struggling woman, so he intervened and rescued Casey. They run and hide behind a waterfall to elude the men. Argernon becomes enamored of Casey and kidnaps her. On the ship heading to Zorn they become closer as Argernon has bound her to him. Casey does not know what he has done as she just wants to return to Earth. Great world building and character development.

OMG where can I. Find a warrior like that.

Wow. This is a out of this world listen and a jump start to any women's libido. Can't wait to download the rest of the series.

Overall happy

I’ve read this book a couple times but I could never remember it. Now I remember why. I am so hot and cold with this story.

I hate dub-con. And I would definitely describe some of the scenes in this book as dub-con.

I would get ticked off at some parts, but I find that I really like Argernon. So his mindset would annoy me but in a way he was very sweet when he wasn’t forcing Casey to bend to his will. I do like that Casey was a little
More stubborn than most women though.

I loved the first book so much. It was easier to accept the things happening to Ariel because Ral wasn’t the one who took her from her life. So by the time she was able to go back to Earth, she had already fallen in love with Ral and wanted the stay with him.

In this book Argernon is the one who took Casey. He took her without her permission and told her his planet was beautiful and she would love it. When she gets upset he then tells her that if she doesn’t accept him she would go to another male or possibly several other males. And if she is too willful she might be put in a facility where she is used basically as a sex slave to any male who comes around... also she can’t leave the house without his protection because she wouldn’t be safe. This does not sound like a great planet. This just ticked me off because he took her and then tells her all the terrible things that could happen to her if she doesn’t accept him. Of course she has a right to be a grey. And I just don’t believe that a woman can be so sexually frustrated that she will get over her anger about the situation just to get an orgasm. In fact I think that kind of situation would make me even more angry.

So that part of the book just ticked me off. But the parts in between those parts were good. Argernon was so vocal about how he felt about Casey. He made some mistakes along the way big time. But he was willing to do anything to make her happy and make it up to her. He was devastated at the thought of her wanting to leave him. (The part where he was all confidence but his hands were shaking when he tried to convince her to stay just got to me.)

One problem I had with this audiobook though was the narrator. She was a good narrator, but I was ready to throw my phone every time I heard her swallow. I can’t. Stand. Mouth noises!
