I'm always the joke. Always the one people laugh at. But when my best friend invites me to one of the auctions he loves so much, I know it's my chance to impress him. He'll never think of me in the same way again.

Benz is always talking about these silly auctions. He brags about all the gems he finds scattered in the junk, but I never believe him until I see the chest. It looks like it's been through so much. Traveling across oceans, wars, marriages. I just know it has a story. Spotting this will finally get Benz to respect me. But if it's so special, why am I the only one bidding?

When I open the lid, I want to melt through the floor. Empty, except for a dress wadded in one corner. I just wanted him to take me seriously, but now he's laughing. There's no way a dress can ever change the way he thinks of me. Not unless it's magic…
