Suzy’s world was rocked, when she went from her simple life on her rural Alabama homestead to marrying her eighth grade sweetheart more than 50 years later at age 65.
Readers of her Simple Times column in the Alabama Cooperative Farming News traveled along with her, as they embarked on their spiritual journey in the most southern foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. Now nearing age 71 and still tending their goats, chickens, turkeys, greenhouse, general store, and more, the couple are realizing the complete truth to the simple statement: Happiness depends on circumstances, true joy comes from the Lord.
