Acerca de esta escucha

John Wimber (1934–1997) has been called one of the most important and controversial figures in North American evangelicalism in the twentieth century and the fountainhead of the Third Wave movement. This sensitive and compelling biography of his life and ministry ultimately tells the story of a man with humble—and, some might say, surprising—beginnings, who was called and moved by God to eventually impact the hearts of millions. The first book-length biographical treatment of his life, John Wimber: His Life and Ministry takes you from the day of his birth—also the day his father abandons him—through his self-proclaimed “pagan upbringing” and young-adult life, complete with illicit-drug use, heavy drinking, and membership in the well-known Righteous Brothers band. As his journey continues, you get a glimpse into his often humorous but refreshing navigation through life as a newborn Christian, a process that culminates in the definitive Holy Spirit encounter that forms Wimber’s understanding of power healing and evangelism—and ultimately the very foundation of his ministry and career. This book contains a discussion of his doctrine, influences, and critics, along with the controversy, the formation of the Vineyard movement; his famous MC510 Signs and Wonder’s class at Fuller; and his involvement with the Kansas City Prophets as well as his reaction to the Toronto Outpouring. Rounding out the narrative is his physical decline, death, and the celebration of his life and legacy. Called “historically faithful and theologically insightful,” John Wimber: His Life and Ministry is both moving and well-documented, promising to appeal to the lay reader and theological scholar alike as they become acquainted with one of the twentieth century’s most influential voices in the kingdom of God.Website: HTTP://www.ConnieDawson.com Américas Estados Unidos Religioso Sincero Ingenioso

Well told story of the life of John Wimber, showing his strengths and weaknesses, up to the conclusion of his life.

Recommended for those who enjoy a historical overview of the man’s life and an encouragement to following Jesus.

More than a father of Third Wave Movement

Wimber is an amazing man of God that I have only become aware of over that last several months. The author of this book is my Seminary mentor whom I value dearly. This book provided me thr opportunity to see various similarities in the early life & overall theology of Wimber to my own. After reading this book, my only regret is not having the opportunity to have known John Wimber firsthand.
His life exemplified the crucial balance of a faith that was saturated with both Word & Spirit and unrelented love for his Heavenly Father. This was echoed in His ministry & allowed God to trust John Wimber with all that he did for God!
I recommend this book!

Moving Bio

Great story but should be narrated by human. I’m not in the Vineyard, but am inspired by his story.

The history and connections with so many ministries

This was such an excelente biography! The attention to detail and proof of difficult attacks in his life really brought a whole new appreciation of what our forerunners dealt with. The integrity that John Wimber lived by is who we all should desire to be. To his family: I’m so sorry for what you endured and applaud your faithfulness first to God and 2nd to your husband, father and grandfather.
Seeing how He dealt with all the questions we all have with healing was encouraging. It leaves me filled with a renewed desire to see Christian’s step into a life filled with care for others in the natural and the miraculous. Knowing full well we will be mocked but do it still.
