A brief overview of Jeffrey Dahmer

I would have given a higher rating but due to some important details that were left out, I gave 4 out of 5 stars. Jeff's first murder as an adolescent committed in Ohio, of the teenage hitchhiker, "Hicks", this book claimed Jeff cut up and buried the body in his backyard to only exhume it many weeks later finally crushing the bones and then scattering them out in the woods behind his house. In other books and documentaries they said Jeff dismembered Hicks and put his body parts into a few large plastic leaf & lawn bags and drove them around one night in which he was pulled over by a police officer around 2 am and was asked what the bags in the back seat were for and had he been drinking and who's car was he driving. Jeff had said his parents were out of town, allowed him access to his mom's car on occasion, and that he was taking lawn clippings to the dump that was open 24 hours because he was having trouble sleeping and figured doing some work would help him get to sleep and that it was part of his chores that his parents would have expected to be done upon their return. He also said yes he had a couple of drinks and apologized. The officer, thought it was a bit strange,but since he was so close to his neighborhood told him to turn around and drive straight back home,amazingly enough letting him off with only a warning. The cop was a complete idiot in my opinion. Had he only checked inside one of those bags he would have prevented the beginning of 16 more unnecessary murders committed by Jeffrey 9 years later! Anyhow,Jeff returned home and buried the body parts under the crawlspace of his Ohio home where he grew up at. None of this was mentioned in this book. Another omitted part was when Jeff invited his first Milwaukee (I believe it was Milwaukee,when he was living with his grandmother) victim 9 years later into his hotel room where he strangled and then dismembered him,cut up all his limbs,torso,and head & stuffed them all into a large suitcase and walked out through the front hotel lobby! If I remember correctly, that particular body was then buried at his grandmother's home..I think the head was left in the suitcase in his bedroom closet for some time too. Both these incidents are an important part of the story, as gruesome as they are, but unfortunately omitted from this book. One last thing that irked me a bit was the narrator's voice. It sounded almost robotic and without any emotion. I even started to doze off midway through for about 20 minutes while listening to this audiobook due to the incessant droning on and on . Because of that ,I admit it is possible I may have missed the part about the hotel incident while during the time he was going to live with his grandmother . But I am however positive nothing was mentioned about what I first wrote above with Jeff driving around with the bags in his car,etc...Overall this is a great ,quick hour & 42 min long overview of the life and heinous crimes of The Milwaukee Cannibal,Jeffrey Dahmer. If you know nothing about him and are interested in knowing the basics, then this is a good book to start with.

so I found the book a little short however I enjoyed hearing the true story of our horrid past

Pretty Basic for starters

If you're just starting to learn about serial killers and know absolutely nothing about Dahmer, this is a good book to start off. But if you consider yourself an expert, you're not going to learn anything new from this. It's all pretty basic information.
