Acerca de esta escucha
A biography of sorts, It's All About the Butterflies is a fantastical journey across 60 years in the life of the author who spent decades selflessly helping, mentoring, and teaching young hockey players.
Weaving real events with fanciful characters and places and situations to fit his narrative, the results from a fictive imagination turn a mundane guide into a creative and interesting mentoring story about a youth hockey volunteer for 20 years.
Travel back in time to the 70s and 80s when life was simpler. Follow along Jim's many escapades and adventures, meeting the teams and players he affected on his journey and the many mentors who molded his life. See how the present world has changed our young people. Discover how to regain some of that simpler life for them today.
It's All About the Butterflies is a collection of short stories. Some are humorous; most have valuable life lessons that provide the first steps for you to become a mentor yourself. Jim shares his passionate belief system, moral values, and many "self-authored" golden rules. Along with a good dose of wisdom, peppered into almost every story, understand how each of us can be transformed from young, curious pupas into bright, beautiful butterflies. Then apply the lessons to your own young charges, and give them a gift that may change their world.
Follow along with the printed book to view the photos as you listen to the stories.

Historia
Everyone tells stories on dates. Sometimes we tell these stories to make people laugh. Sometimes we tell them to make people think. Sometimes we tell them so we can increase the chances we'll see the other person naked. Paul Shirley's stories are about an adulthood spent all over the world: living in Spain, playing in the NBA, and having his heart (and spleen) broken. But they're also stories about growing up in small-town Kansas: triumphant spelling bees, catastrophic middle school dances, and a Sex Ed. class taught by his mother.

Shattered is part sports audio book, because you’ll go on road trips, enter clubhouses, and walk on the fields of professional baseball. It’s part romantic novel, because you’ll journey with two young kids who fall in love and eventually elope, evading not only her family, but the law as well - for she was only 16. It’s also a story of brokenness, betrayal, and burn-out. If you were raised in a dysfunctional family, if you’ve ever had your dreams fall apart, been betrayed by close friends, or hit the psychological “wall” in your professional career, this is your audio book too.

As a kid, Jim Morris dreamed of pitching in the major leagues. As an adult, his baseball career was restricted to coaching and inspiring players to dream big. Until his players made a proposition: if they won the league championship, he'd try out for the majors. You must hear this story to believe what happened when they actually won.

When Lily and Alex entered a packed gymnasium in Queens, New York, in 1972, they barely recognized their son. The boy who escaped to America with them, who was bullied as he struggled to learn English and cope with family tragedy, was now a young man who had discovered and secretly honed his basketball talent on the outdoor courts of New York City. That young man was Ernie Grunfeld, who would go on to win an Olympic gold medal and reach previously unimaginable heights as an NBA player and executive.

For the first time, the remarkable couple depicted in the film The Blind Side tell their own deeply inspiring story. First came the best-selling book, then the Oscar-nominated movie—the story of Michael Oher and the family who adopted him has become one of the most talked-about true stories of our time. But until now, Leigh Anne and Sean Tuohy have never told this astonishing tale in their own way and with their own words.

The John Scott story is the ultimate underdog narrative in sports during 2016 when Scott - in the twilight of his career - went from a joke All-Star fan-voted nominee to scoring two goals and winning the All-Star Game's MVP title. This is his heartwarming story about an average Joe who became a sports superhero overnight. Known as a willing-and-able fighter and bruiser in the league, John Scott was a surprising and tongue-and-cheek nominee for the 2016 NHL All-Star Game.

Reminded me of my Hockey days!
I loved it, I am not a big reader and can on one hand the amount if books I have read for pleasure. So glad this was available on audible. I binged it and loved it, so many similar experiences, team names, players, coaches, rinks. Brought me back to my own playing days in the 80s.
