The author: Alessandro Ghebreigziabiher is an author, playwright, actor, storyteller, teacher, and theater director. He has published around twenty books, including eleven novels, collections of short stories, children’s fairy tales, and educational materials for schools. He is also the creator of storytelling performances, spoken-word poetry videos, a blog, and a podcast focused on contemporary news from Italy and abroad.
His first book, Tramonto (Sunset, Italian editions: Lapis, 2002; Tempesta Editore, 2017), was selected in 2003 by the International Youth Library (IYL) in Munich, Germany, for the White Ravens list—a recognition awarded to outstanding children’s books from around the world. He is a member of the Federation for European Storytelling, one of the coordinators of the international storytelling network Red Internacional de Cuentacuentos, and in 2016 he founded the global narrators’ network Storytellers for Peace.
In 2025, he received the Energie per Roma Award (Energies for Rome) from the European Center for Cultural Studies for his “extraordinary contribution to the city”.
He was born in Naples in 1968 to an Eritrean father and an Italian mother. For nearly thirty years, he has led workshops and experiential laboratories in theater, storytelling, and social animation in clinical and therapeutic institutions—including drug rehabilitation centers and mental health services—and has spoken at numerous conferences on educational topics aimed at professionals.
